Congratulations to the CHS Lady Lions volleyball team! They were undefeated this past weekend at the Grayville Round Robin tournament. This puts their record at 23-6 for the season.
The day to honor those who have served our country and remember the forgotten is approaching. The Cisne FFA is proud to host our 2nd annual complimentary breakfast to honor our local Wayne and Clay county veterans who sacrificed their lives to serve and defend our country. The Cisne FFA would love the chance to serve you on November 9th from 7:30 to 9:30 AM, so bring your family or guest along with you for a hot breakfast!

On Friday, October 2, 2026, thirteen Cisne FFA members (Pictured front row left to right) Cailyn Smith, Myla Hearle, Allison Shannon, Emery Frederick, Becca King (back row) Addison Owens, CeCe Wilton, Claire Matthews, Bristol Atwood, Kenzie Alvis, Hadley Howard, Ava Lewis, and Ashtyn Smith participated in the SIUC Horse Judging Career Development Event hosted at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. Cisne received 4th place team in the Practice Division and 5th place overall in Varsity and JV divisions. Hadley Howard was Cisne’s High Scorer and finished as 1st overall individual in the Practice Division. Ashtyn Smith led the Varsity Division and received 3rd Overall Individual. Kenzie Alvis finished as the 10th Overall Individual in the JV division.Over 500 students representing forty-six schools participated in the event. The competition required members to judge eight rings of horses including an open halter class followed by performance classes.

On Thursday, October 1st Cisne FFA members (left to right) Kenzie Alvis, Claire Matthews, Allison Shannon, and Mikki Hearle finished 2nd in the Section 23 Ag Sales Leadership Development Event hosted by Wabash Valley College. Section Individual overall results: 5th- Mikki Hearle, 7th - Claire Matthews, and 8th - Kenzie Alvis. Sixteen students representing four schools participated in the event. The 2026 Ag Sales product is a Lincoln Electric welder package with options. The competition required members to take a written quiz, sell a welder package, and complete a team activity. Cisne advances to district level competition at Rend Lake College later in October.

On Monday, September 28th Cisne FFA members (Front row Left to Right) Cailyn Smith, Myla Hearle, Allison Shannon, Becca King (Back row) Esme Krupp, Aidyn Dickey, Kenzie Alvis, Claire Matthews, and Ava Lewis finished as the 2nd place team in the Section 23 Horse Judging Career Development Event hosted at the White Squirrel Saddle Club in Olney . Ava Lewis was recognized as the 3rd overall individual. Seventy students representing nine schools participated in the event. Students judged two halter classes, a Ranch Pleasure class and a Horsemanship class.

The manufacturing occupations class has recently taken the Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST) . This allows the students the opportunity to be certified to fly recreational drones.
Mr. Conard also recently took a group of juniors and seniors to the 2026 Southern Illinois Construction Career Expo held at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. At this year's expo students learned more about the potential for a great career in the construction trades.

The Cisne FFA Greenhand Quiz Bowl team (pictured left to right) of Bryson Simpson, Myla Hearle, Cailyn Smith, Kate Endsley, and Ethan Gill won 1st place in the Section 23 Greenhand Quiz Bowl competition held in conjunction with Section 23 Leadership Training School at Wayne City High School on September 23, 2026. The team will advance to the Illinois FFA State Greenhand Quiz Bowl competition which is held at the beginning of the Illinois FFA State Convention.
The September board of education meeting will be held Wednesday night at 6 pm at Cisne Middle School. The annual budget hearing will be at 5:50.

1st Annual Lady Lion Volleyball Bash
The North Wayne band & choir put on a fantastic performance today at the CMS Grandparents' Day performance.
The Cisne FFA Forestry Team of Mikkie Hearle, Cale Shannon, Esme Krupp, Allison Shannon, and Myla Hearle finished as the 2nd place team in the Section 23 Forestry CDE held Monday-September 14, 2026, at Sam Dale Lake. Cale Shannon received additional recognition as 2nd overall individual and Mikkie Hearle earned 3rd overall individual honors. Seventy-one students representing eleven schools participated in the event. FFA members identified trees and forestry equipment. A general knowledge test, a compass and pacing exercise, and a map interpretation practicum were completed. Students also used tree scale sticks to estimate tree diameter and merchantable height.
The CMS Baseball game vs Iuka on 9/16 has been canceled. They will now play an intersquad game starting at 4:15. Spectators are allowed.
The CMS softball team will have a JV game at Southwest Park vs Jasper on 9/16 with a 6:00 start time. There will NOT be transportation provided.
