Ava Greifzu broke our CHS volleyball all-time assist record in a win vs. Mt. Carmel. Ava will be given a plaque at the conclusion of the season with the total number of her assists in recognition for being the new all-time leader in assists. Ava’s parents are Angie and Bryan Greifzu.

Congratulations to Senior Ava Greifzu for becoming the new All-Time volleyball leader in assists. Ava broke the record last night in our win vs. Mt. Carmel. CHS is proud of you!

On September 11th Kenzie Alvis and Kylar Porter attended the Rotary luncheon at the Cornerstone Church in Fairfield to hear Joe Astrouski speak. Joe is an instructor in the School of Communication and Journalism at Eastern Illinois University. He is also an agribusiness reporter for WAND-TV (NBC) in Decatur and regularly produces documentary programs for WEIU-TV and other public television stations in Illinois. Joe's work has earned regional Emmys for environmental reporting, entertainment reporting, and human-interest programming as well as a Wilbur Award for religion journalism and a Telly award for sustainability programming.

A big congratulations to the varsity boys cross country team for winning the Geff invitational yesterday.
5th grader Raylan Downen had an impressive day by finishing first overall.

The Cisne FFA Forestry Team of (front row) Becca King, Allison Shannon (back row) Mikkie Hearle, Esme Krupp, Aidyn Dickey and Cale Shannon finished as the 2nd place team in the Section 23 Forestry CDE held Monday-September 8, 2025, at Sam Dale Lake. Cale Shannon received additional recognition as 3rd overall individual and Mikkie Hearle earned 4th overall individual honors. Sixty-six students representing ten schools participated in the event. FFA members identified trees, forestry equipment and tree disorders. A general knowledge test and a map interpretation practicum were completed. Students also used tree scale sticks to estimate tree diameter and merchantable height.

Cms held 8th grade recognition last night for softball and baseball. Both teams came away with victories over Jasper. 8th grade players and all of their teammates then enjoyed a fun celebration with pizza and cupcakes. A big thank you to the parents, coaches, and staff for organizing the event and for honoring our 14 eighth graders. It was a great evening.

Congrats to CHS senior Hagen Howard who continued to play well in yesterday's golf match at Oblong. Hagen carded a one under 35 to win the event held at Oak Glen Golf Course!
